Philosophy and Goals

Everyone should feel fulfilled, secure, and needed at their place of work, but beyond that, I believe that everyone should be enriched by what they do for a living. To me, work is more than simply making a living. It is about thriving in a career doing something that makes a difference. When I’m in my later years and ready to retire, I want to be remembered for all of the encouraging encounters and help I offered others on their path to achieving their goals. I want to leave a legacy of amazing work behind me and feel confident that I made a positive impact on the world. My detail-oriented, organized, and dedicated personality will help me in any position, but I will feel the most fulfilled in a position where I can assist others. My past job experience has taught me a lot about what I want out of a future career and lifestyle.

Ideally, I would love to have a career that takes me around the world or allows me to work with people from all different cultures. My attention to detail from years of dancing professionally will assist me in event planning positions or positions that allow me to analyze an organization's hospitality plan. After years of working with companies with high employee turnover, I know the value of long-term employees. I want to feel essential in any position I hold as well as secure within an organization. I desire to work for a company that has a clear vision, mission, and goals that I can feel passionate about being involved in helping grow.

My management style is focused on breaking down the barriers of my team to help them not only with their job duties but also achieving their personal goals. I most identify with the Excellence/Transformational theory and the servant leadership approach. I believe in inspiring my team to accomplish goals because their work is important to the bigger picture. My leadership approach is to support, nurture, and give to others.

In 1978, Don Lowry created the True Colors test based on the research of David Keirsey about temperament types. The test gives individuals an insight into their needs and values, attributes, leadership style, and how their primary color is perceived by others. I am a high Gold and Blue personality. My Gold temperament will always have me striving for things to be organized, easy to understand, and structured. I will always want my team to know what is expected of them so they can feel a sense of accomplishment. The Blue side of my personality will drive me to create a sense of community among team members and a safe environment for individuals to express what they need. As a leader, I might struggle at times with the different personality types, but I will strive to look within, first, and always recognize the strengths of my team. For instance, an Orange personality may not always be the most organized, like me, but they will generally be more open to change, keep a work environment fun, and be flexible. I will choose to look at the strengths of my team members first, and place them in a position that they will thrive in.
