Spain
2017
Spain was the first stop on our honeymoon. It was a week after the unfortunate event in Barcelona. A young man drove his van into pedestrians on La Rambla. Our Airbnb was right off that main road. It was surreal to watch the crowds praying and the flowers and candles grow each day as people learned of lost loved ones. Although it was a more somber time to be in Barcelona, we were greeted with kindness, tapas, and local wine from our Airbnb hosts. We explored the stunning cathedrals, ate way too much paella, and learned very quickly that people eat at very different times in Spain. Nothing was open for breakfast besides the market, and restaurants didn’t open for dinner until after 8pm. La Boqueria will always be my favorite market place in the world, and you can find the best sangria in Barcelona. We then ventured to Mallorca, an island off the coast of Spain. Palma de Mallorca is a fun beach town with lots of shopping. We enjoyed our time laying out in the sun, relaxing, and ordering croquettes any chance we got. I can’t wait to return one day.
